Dear Passengers is still not playable. FLEXUS lists the co-op airplane comedy as a planned 2026 Steam release for Windows PC, and as of September 26, 2026 the store page shows no exact date, no price, and no public demo. If you want a co-op airplane game with friends today, there is a free option: Cabin Crew on bunpav, live in your browser right now.
Cabin Crew is not Dear Passengers. It is our own smaller game with the same shape of joke: one friend flies, everyone else keeps the cabin from falling apart. Below is where the real game stands, what our free version does, and how to be honest with your group about the difference.

Where does Dear Passengers stand right now?
The official Steam page lists FLEXUS as both developer and publisher, single-player and online co-op, and a planned 2026 release. The pitch is unchanged from when we first covered it in What Is the Viral Airplane Game?: "You and your friends are the crew. Your job is to deliver passengers and cargo to their destination. Preferably in one piece."
The hype has grown a great deal since July. Third-party trackers, citing FLEXUS's own July 31 announcement, report that the game passed two million Steam wishlists. Some coverage also says FLEXUS showed a demo at Gamescom 2026 and promised a public build afterward. We have not seen that public build appear on the Steam listing, so treat any "demo download" link you find elsewhere with suspicion.
That gap is the reason for this post. Millions of people want to play this game, and the honest answer for now is "not yet."
Why do people want a Dear Passengers demo so badly?
Because the premise sells itself in one sentence: run the world's worst airline with your friends. It also produces the kind of clips that spread without explanation — passengers sliding down an aisle, cargo bursting loose in turbulence, a pilot swearing the cabin crew caused it.
That is the same engine behind the broader friendslop wave: a task everyone understands, a physics system that punishes the plan, and enough divided responsibility to make blame a feature. Dear Passengers has all three, which is why waiting for a release date is genuinely frustrating.
What is Cabin Crew, the free co-op airplane game?
Cabin Crew is a first-person cooperative flight game that runs in the browser. bunpav's description: one friend flies, everyone else manages the chaos.
One player controls the plane. The rest of the crew works inside a full-size cabin:
- serving passengers and fetching equipment;
- fighting fires and repairing systems;
- securing loose cargo;
- reacting to turbulence caused by rough weather and the pilot's choices.
Banking, pitch, and rough air affect everyone onboard, so a sloppy turn does not stay a pilot problem. It becomes a cabin problem within seconds. Only one human can pilot at a time; leaving the seat hands the controls over, which is where a lot of the fun comes from.
How do you play it?
Controls work on desktop and touch:
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| WASD / arrows / stick | Walk around the cabin, or control pitch and bank while piloting |
| Mouse / right-thumb drag | Look around in first person |
| E / Space / Use | Use the aimed task, or take and leave the pilot seat |
| Q / Drop | Put away carried equipment |
You do not need an account to try it. Open the Cabin Crew page, start a room, and send the link to your group. If nobody else is around yet, bots can fill seats so the plane is not empty.
How is Cabin Crew different from Dear Passengers?
We would rather say this plainly than let a "free version" headline over-promise.
| Dear Passengers | Cabin Crew | |

| Made by | FLEXUS | bunpav (independent, unaffiliated) |
| Platform | Windows PC, Steam | Any modern browser |

| Scope | Full game with passenger and cargo selection, dynamic weather, progression | A shorter, self-contained flight built for quick sessions |

Dear Passengers is a full production with a risk-reward manifest system before takeoff and a much larger scope. Cabin Crew is a compact browser game. It will not replace the Steam release, and we are not claiming it does. What it does give you is the core comedy loop today: a pilot, a crew, and a cabin that is always slightly worse than you thought.
Cabin Crew also has a limit worth knowing. Station cooldowns cap how fast you can respond to any single problem, and keeping the plane stable is a shared game objective rather than a simulation of real aviation. It is a party game, not a flight sim.
Tips for a good Cabin Crew session with friends
- Name the jobs before takeoff. Pilot, service, repair, and cargo cover most of the action. Let people swap roles mid-flight.
- Keep callouts short. "Fire, rear left" beats a paragraph. One person barking constant orders tends to make the plane worse.
- Rotate the pilot. Everyone should fly at least once; it changes how you treat the next person who does.
- Start on a calm flight. Learn what each station does before the turbulence starts.
- Blame someone loudly. It is the intended experience.
The same setup works for a remote team break. We cover how to run co-op sessions with coworkers in our cooperative games for team building guide, and it needs no downloads, which matters on locked-down work laptops.
Why a browser game is a useful stand-in before a Steam release
A big Steam launch asks a lot of a group. Everyone needs to buy the game, install it, match hardware requirements (the Dear Passengers listing asks for a GTX 1060-class GPU and 8 GB of RAM), and be online at the same moment. Group plans that need five separate purchases tend to die in the chat.
A browser game removes most of that friction. Nobody buys anything, laptops without a gaming GPU can still join, and a friend who is only half interested can hop in for ten minutes and leave without feeling they wasted money. That makes it a cheap experiment: if your group is still laughing after two flights, the full game is a safer buy. If the group drifts off after one, you learned that for free.
It also works as a practice room. The habits that make co-op airplane chaos fun, such as short callouts, rotating the pilot, and agreeing who owns which job, carry over to any game built on the same idea, including Dear Passengers when it launches.
Who should wait for Dear Passengers instead?
Cabin Crew is designed for short, chaotic sessions. If you specifically want passenger and cargo selection before takeoff, a long risk-and-reward loop, dynamic weather systems, and a game you can spend many evenings in, that is what FLEXUS is building and a compact browser game will not match it.
Wishlist the Steam page, keep an eye on the official channels for a date, and treat Cabin Crew as the snack, not the meal.
What should you do while waiting for Dear Passengers?
- Wishlist Dear Passengers on Steam so you hear about the real release date and any demo.
- Play Cabin Crew free with two or three friends to find out whether the pilot-versus-cabin format works for your group.
- Ignore "download demo" links until FLEXUS announces one on its official channels.
- Read the caveats on the viral clip. If you came here from a reposted video with celebrity labels, see what we could and could not verify.
- Try other browser co-op games while you wait. Our friendslop browser games list covers more chaotic no-install options.
If your group loves Cabin Crew, you already know the answer to whether Dear Passengers is worth wishlisting. If nobody enjoys blaming the pilot, you also saved yourself a Steam purchase decision.
